Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of youth dividend in Seongnam city on life satisfaction of young people. The Graduate Occupational Mobility Survey(GOMS) data collected by the Korea Employment Information Service from 2015 to 2018 was used for the final analysis. Young people in Seongnam city were set as the treatment group, and young people in Yongin City, Hwaseong City, Goyang City, and Bucheon City who had similar demographic and sociological conditions excluding policy benefit were selected as the comparison group. Difference-in-differences(DID) method was applied to analyze the pure policy effect that appeared after receiving the youth dividend in Seongnam city, and the dependent variable is life satisfaction. According to the analysis results of the study, there was a positive relationship between the youth dividend and youth life satisfaction, but it was not statistically significant.
Based on the analysis results of this study, policy suggestions such as expanding the payment period of youth basic income in the future, improving the level of payment, and expanding the scope of use were presented. And suggestions for follow-up studies that can supplement the limitations of this study are presented.
